First Nations Historic Acquisition of the Former CANFOR Plateau Sawmill Property: New Ncha Koh Industrial Park

Yinka Dene Territory (Vanderhoof, BC) – On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the sale of the former CANFOR Plateau Sawmill, and all included properties and materials, officially closed. Four (4) First Nations have made an historic purchase of industrial lands that will support efforts to build up the regional, provincial and national economy – all under the investment strategy of First Nations contributing to the partnership of economic reconciliation.

The Stellat’en, Nadleh Whutʼen, Saikuz, and Lheidli T’enneh First Nations have come together in the true spirit of partnership, collaboration, and lifting one another up, to purchase the property and facilities, located in Vanderhoof, British Columbia, with a goal of elevating the local economy, and the thousands of people that call the region home.

Through this historic purchase agreement, the Ncha Koh Industrial Park has been formed, with BC Hydro immediately assuming a 4-year lease for the North Coast Transmission Like (NCTL) – Phase 1. In addition this industrial property can provide supports to leases that require power, highway access, rail access, and diversified workforce in the region.

The Ncha Koh Industrial Park will be owned by the four (4) First Nations corporate entities, and is an asset held in fee-simple. The Ncha Koh Industrial Park will support local employment and skills development of both First Nations and non-First Nations people, including providing support for the local, provincial and federal tax base.
