HOW TO VOTE
In Stellaquo
New Hall, 559 Meljaiya Ti – 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Remember to bring at least one piece of government-issued identification, such as your Status Card or Driver’s License.
By Mail
Mail-in Ballots will no longer automatically be sent to each voter. If you wish to vote by mail, you must request a mail-in voting package by Thursday, July 7, 2022. Please fill out and return your mail-in ballot as early as possible. It must be received on or before 8:00 pm on July 28, 2022, to be valid.

Online
On Monday, June 13, 2022, the Electoral Officer will mail each Stellat’en voter a unique, one-time access code to vote through a secure online voting system. You will receive your access code sometime after June 13 (subject to Canada Post delivery times).
Once you receive your online voting access code, you have until 8:00 pm on July 28, 2022, to cast your ballot electronically.

HOW TO BECOME A CANDIDATE
All Candidates for Stellat’en Chief & Council need to prepare a Nomination Package to be submitted to the Electoral Officer at or before the Nomination Meeting on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Candidates will no longer be nominated and seconded by other members at the Nomination Meeting.

The Electoral Officer will review each package to ensure completion. On Monday, June 13, the list of all Chief & Council Candidates will be publicly posted in the Band Office and here on the Stellat’en website.
Nomination Package Checklist
- Criminal Record Check
- Proof of completion of Stellat’en Governance Training
- Signatures of support from five (5) Stellat’en voters
- $100 Nomination Fee
Criminal Record Check
You can request a Criminal Record Check from any RCMP detachment or through a private online service. Candidates are advised to start this process as soon as possible. Processing fees may vary.
Third-party online services include www.mycrc.ca and www.mybackcheck.com.
Governance Training
Complete Stellat’en Governance Training before June 8, 2022. Include a copy of your Certificate of Completion in the Nomination Package. Governance Training will be available in Stellaquo and via Zoom (June 1 and 7, 2022) and as an e-learning course on the Stellat’en website.
Support Signatures
Obtain valid endorsement from five (5) Stellat’en voters. These can be collected as physical signatures on the Candidate Supporters Form or as electronic signatures through the online form.
Nomination Fee
The $100 Nomination Fee can be paid to the Electoral Officer by cash, certified cheque, or e-transfer to loreensuhr@telus.net.
