EMPLOYMENT NOTICE
Regional Sport & Physical Activity Coordinators
The overarching mission of the Aboriginal Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity Partners Council (Partners Council) is to improve the health outcomes of Aboriginal people across British Columbia by supporting and encouraging physically active communities and by expanding access to sports and recreation opportunities. The Partners Council has established six regions across BC inclusive of the Northwest, Northeast, Interior, Fraser, Vancouver Coastal, and Vancouver Island. This structure brings together community sport, recreation, physical activity and health leaders from within each Region to establish committees, set priorities and create annual plans for advancing sport, recreation and physical activity in their area.
General Description
The Partners Council, in collaboration with its Regional Committees, is hiring six Regional Sport & Physical Activity Coordinators—one per region. Working closely with the Manager, Regional Engagement, and reporting to core members of the Regional Committee, the primary role of the Regional Sport and Physical Activity Coordinator is to engage stakeholder groups in the development and implementation of regional programs, as identified by the Regional Committee, designed to develop and enhance sport, recreation and physical activity in First Nations, Métis Chartered Communities and Friendship Centres. Ideal candidates will possess extensive backgrounds in the areas of sport, recreation and physical activity and have established networks/connections among Aboriginal communities and organizations within their Region. Successful applicants will be required to reside in and work from within their regional boundary (regional maps can be found on our website listed below).
Competencies and Requirements
* Applied knowledge of Aboriginal community issues
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Exceptional organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
* Ability to work independently with limited supervision
* Willingness to maintain a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends
* Available to travel within your region for promotion and delivery of programs (valid Class 5 driver’s license required)
* Criminal record check
* Work experience in the field of sport/recreation/physical activity will be an asset
Term: September 2011–March 31, 2012
Estimated contract pay range of $23-26,000 for the 7 month period (based on 35 hr/wk full time) Workspace to be arranged in Friendship Centre in your region. (alternate arrangements will be considered)

Receptionist
Stellat’en First Nation Job Opportunity
RECEPTIONIST
Reporting to the Executive Assistant, the Receptionist shall be responsible for:
The operation and coordination of SFN office telecommunications systems;
The provision of Receptionist services for visiting SFN community clients & business representatives;
The provision of Mail Clerk services for the SFN main office;
The provision of Office Clerk services for the SFN main office;
The provision of File Clerk services for the main office central file system;
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Executive Assistant;
Receptionist Qualifications:
Education / Experience:
Minimum grade 12 education, possession of office clerk certificate preferred
2 years experience providing clerical or receptionist services
Satisfactory work references
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Familiar with the operations of a variety of office equipment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other related computer software
Knowledge of records management systems
Possesses superior organization skills
Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively within a team setting
Salary: To be negotiated based on qualifications and experience. (approx $11-12/h)
Conditions of Employment: This is a temporary position with the possibility of becoming permanent. The position requires a criminal check and driver’s abstract. The position requires regular reporting to the Executive Assistant.
