The Community Administrator must provide records and documents to the relevant governments and agencies, when requested.
Current Projects & Programs
- Development of SFN Membership Code – A policy to provide the criteria to add members to the SFN membership list is being developed in consultation with community members.
- Development of Fund Dispersal Policy – A policy to determine how funds from accommodation agreements, store revenue, and land claims will be allocated to programs or members is being developed in consultation with community members.
- Development of New Hall Rental Policy – A policy for the rental of the New Hall detailing the responsibilities and liability of renters is being developed.
- Clarification and updating Social Assistance Policy – Social Assistance is a major band expenditure. The Social Assistance policy is being reviewed to ensure that resources are being allocated for maximum effectiveness.
- Implementation of Active Measures in Social Assistance Policy – A policy is being developed to help employable members on social assistance to increase their skill levels and be better prepared for jobs both within and outside of the community. It is our goal to see every mature member earning a minimum of $20/h.
Future Projects & Programs
- Community garden and smokehouse – Funds are being sought for the development of a community garden and communal smokehouse. We hope to see the Elder’s enjoying the garden and everybody eating healthy fresh vegetables this summer.
- Environmental Monitoring – Several projects including Endako mine are disturbing the environment. We have been training people over the last few years to develop the skills necessary for environmental monitoring. With projects like the Embridge pipeline likely to move forward in our territory, we want to be ready in advance to take on the environmental monitoring of one of our most precious resources, the land and waterways.
- Vegetation Management – We have been removing forest fuels from the reserve to prevent wildfires. The training and experience gained in this program will be transferred into a longer term vegetation management group. With this group, we hope to get the contracts in our territory to maintain the trails and parks and do other forest fuel management.
